LOGAN WHISTLE PERFORMANCE COMPARISON
CHOOSING FROM THE RANGE OF LOGAN WHISTLES - click for FULL RANGE
Our whistles are ALL
- effective for any breed of dog
- capable of very loud & sharp as well as soft/deep sounds
- suitable for all users – beginner to professional
As all are capable of high performance - soft deep tones to sharp, high pitched, tones - you can use just one design, basing your decision on the shape, material, weight and overall design that you prefer. Find some whistle sounds clips here
But there are of course some performance differences between the whistle designs - so if you want a whistle suited to a particular situation or to use with dogs of differing temperaments then we can help with that too – many of the more experienced users will have more than one Logan Whistle to hand for that very reason.
Using the picture above as a reference, you will see they are divided into THREE 'sound-chamber' designs
- the Traditional air-hole and slot - proven excellence and available in all metal and non-metallic materials
- the Turbo two-hole design - adding extra resonance for use in extremely difficult conditions. Available in all the metal and non-metallic materials
- the Ventura air-hole and slot - this most recent design creates more air through the whistle with ease for distant and close work - available in anodised aluminium and solid brass
Also note that there are two design profiles
- the curved side edges of the A-shape available for three whistles - the lightweight anodised aluminium Logan A1 and the brass Supreme and the two-hole brass Turbo.
- the more recent straighter side edge, fuller shape of the aluminium and the brass Ventura, the stainless steel Logan 304 & 304 Turbo whistles and the non metallic Delta and Delta2
Using feedback from experienced users and from field trials – we have created the following indication of features that users say they most value about each whistle – what the whistle does especially well – a good place to start if you have a particular need or are new to our whistles.
Comparisons are based on trials and feedback, but everyone uses the whistles slightly differently - so please accept this illustration as a guide only.

The relative SOUND & RANGE from each Logan Whistle design and material
Our whistles are capable of a full range of tones - low frequency deep tones to very high frequency, sharp whistle commands. The precision way we cut the various premium metal and Delrin materials creates clean edges around the hole and 'sound chamber' giving precise, crisp sounds that dogs respect and appreciate.

A word about Brass
Given the acoustic and ant-bacterial properties of brass, it is the usual metal of choice for the construction & mouthpieces of musical instruments including the harmonica, trumpet and horn.
We love the hygienic nature of this material - brass can kill even antibiotic-resistant bacteria such as MRSA and VRSA microorganisms within a few minutes to hours of contact.
For those who are sensitive to metals, and to minimise any potential for an allergic reaction, we have sourced top-quality certified lead-free brass for our whistles and do not add lacquer of any kind. Brass is an alloy of copper and zinc and if you may have sensitivities to those materials you may feel happier selecting a whistle from one of our other ranges.
