Our Border Collie Series aims to represent the looks and working stance of a stylish Border Collie. These have been crafted by Holly Bennett working directly with Harford Logan in Ireland where she was able to observe the Border Collies in action and have the benefit of Harford's observations on stance and detail as she finished each model in wax. The sculptures are cast in bronze in the UK - we make just a very few at a time. Each comes with a certificate of authentication.
We can also provide engraved brass plates for award or presentation purposes on request.
Every handler wants a stylish Border Collie, one with the temperament and 'power' of a champion. The low head and tail carriage of Perfect Style and Perfect Pace are a mark of the dog's confidence and strength of character. This is a dog that will be gently persuasive with weak or 'light' sheep but which will, without undue fuss, stand steady and command the respect of those that initially challenge its authority. Fitness, speed and agility create a streamlined profile. A close handler and dog relationship is evident in the dog's rapt expression – listening and responding to its handler, as only this most exceptional and intelligent of breeds can continue to do, at great distance
Our latest miniature Border Collie and Sheep bronze sculptures by Holly Bennett.
We have left these sculptures free-standing (rather than fixed on a base) as it is very satisfying to hold these little works of art and to set up a conversation between the dog and the sheep - or the dog and more than one sheep.
The Border Collie and the Sheep are available to purchase separately - or build up your own collection and create your own work of art.
The McHardy Sculpture Company was launched by Joanne & Max McHardy in 1995 in Shad Thames in the shadow of London's Tower Bridge where we represented the work of young and established contemporary artists. In 2006, Joanne helped her father complete and publish his book ' Over the Hills and Far Away' telling the story of his unique bond with the Border Collie breed and the success and adventures he enjoyed by following his passion for sheepdog breeding and handling. Holly Bennett was one of the most successful artists in the gallery, with a focus on creating highly sought after animal sculptures. She was a natural choice to illustrate the book and to create the very first in the Border Collie Series by McHardy Originals. Now based in the countryside of West Sussex we continue to source and commission art for our clients - with a particular specialism on working dogs, horses and farming livestock breeds.
